Didier Deschamps believes Zinedine Zidane could be an ideal candidate to succeed him as France boss.
The current Real Madrid assistant has made it clear he is ready to try his hand at coaching after spending the season to date under the tutelage of Carlo Ancelotti.
And Deschamps, who lifted the World Cup in 1998 alongside Zidane, feels his old team-mate could take charge of les Bleus should he decide not to extend his contract beyond 2016.
"It's possible. Why not? He has graduated, he wants to be in this place, so why not," he was quoted as saying by Europe1.
"After 2016, I don't know what I'll do."
Deschamps, who admitted he has "20 names in mind" for his squad for this summer's World Cup in Brazil, went on to praise the leadership qualities of Franck Ribery, stressing that there are few finer players in the modern game than the Bayern Munich star.
"Franck is a technical leader. There are other kinds of leadership but, for what he does on the pitch, he is among the best players in the world," said Deschamps.
