'It was a special evening born under a lucky star' - De Laurentiis hails Coppa Italia semi-final triumph
Diego Maradona was in attendance as Napoli sealed a 5-2 aggregate win over Roma to reach the final and the club's president believes the match will live long in the memory
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has described his side's 3-0 Coppa Italia semi-final second-leg victory over Roma as a "special evening born under a lucky star".
The Partenopei booked their place in the final of the competition, where they will face Fiorentina, with a 5-3 aggregate win, having lost 3-2 in last week's first leg.
And, with club legend Diego Maradona in the crowd to witness the match, De Laurentiis believes it was an evening that will live long in the memory of the fans.
"It was a special evening born under a lucky star," he told Rai Sport.
"The team are proving themselves to be a real outfit and there are no worries. The other thing is that we had Maradona, who arrived at the San Paolo.
"The public's affection is an extraordinary thing. Then I gave him a jersey with his name on it. It was a truly special evening."
Jose Callejon got the ball rolling in the first half for the Partenopei, with Gonzalo Higuain and Jorginho scoring after the break to seal the comeback.
