FRED,JEFFERSON & JO ADDED TO BRAZIL SQUAD THAT WILL FACE SOUTH AFRICA IN A FRIENDLY MATCH

Fred, Jefferson and Jo added to Brazil squad

Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has included Fluminense striker Fred in his squad to face South Africa in next month's friendly in Johannesburg.

The experienced forward, who scored five goals as the Selecao marched to Confederations Cup glory, was a doubt for the encounter on March 5 due to injury, but has been deemed fit enough to make his first appearance since the 1-0 defeat to Switzerland in August.

Fred is joined by Botafogo goalkeeper Jefferson and Atletico Mineiro striker Jo in Scolari's 19-man party, with the other 16 slots having already been awarded to Brazilian players based in Europe.

Scolari had stressed earlier this month that he would not take a full contigent of 23 players to South Africa for the game as he looks to assess his options ahead of this summer's World Cup on home soil.

Fernandinho and Rafinha were the surprise call-ups from the European-based players, while Robinho, Philippe Coutinho and Kaka were all left out.

Squad in full:

Goalkeepers: Julio Cesar (QPR), Jefferson (Botafogo)

Defenders: Thiago Silva (Paris Saint-Germain), David Luiz (Chelsea), Dante (Bayern Munich), Daniel Alves (Barcelona), Rafinha (Bayern Munich), Marcelo (Real Madrid)

Midfielders: Luiz Gustavo (Wolfsburg), Fernandinho (Manchester City), Paulinho (Tottenham), Ramires, Oscar, Willian (all Chelsea)

Strikers: Neymar (Barcelona), Bernard (Shakhtar Donetsk), Hulk (Zenit), Fred (Fluminense), Jo (Atletico Mineiro)
